Children Fascinated by Animals at Wandsworth Prep Welcome Party
3rd August 2012
On Saturday 30th June, our new Reception class and their parents joined us for a very special Parent and Pupil Welcome Party.
A major highlight of the party was a visit from Impeyan Productions, who brought along a wide range of different creatures for the children to touch and hold, including a chamelion, siberian fox, meerkat, snake, anteater and a baby crocodile.
Everyone had a wonderful time and Headteacher, Melissa McBride, was impressed by how brave the children were holding the creatures.
“It was lovely to watch the children looking in amazement at the animals as they were brought out of their cages. I was so impressed with how willing the children were to hold the animals and to witness the sheer excitement on their faces as each animal was brought out. I really look forward to using Impeyan Productions to bring to life the school’s topic on our work around the book, ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell.”
It wasn’t just the children who were willing to hold the exotic array of animals. Parents and all staff had a hold too, as you can see in the picture above.
As part of the party, parents and children got the chance to sample the delicious food prepared by the school’s caterers, Brookwood.
Before leaving the event all of the children took home a reading bag and sports bag, ready for when they start school.
We look forward to welcoming all of the children and their parents in September.
