Children take part in Active Storytelling

At Drama Club we have been enjoying Active Storytelling around the story of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  Each week we jump into the story and use techniques such as freeze frame, speaking in role, choral speech and physical theatre to bring the story to life.  

This week we were trying to create tension and suspense.  Lovely Mr Tumnus was arrested by the wolves and we created flashback scenarios to explore what happened two days before, two minutes before and on the day of the arrest.  As sculptors, the children sculpted human clay models into stone statues and they tried to persuade Edmund not to continue into the ice palace.  We talked about how to create this creepy, scary atmosphere and the children were fantastic at creating this mood.  We shall be onto happier scenes next week as we meet Aslan and his incredible mythical army!
