Last week, Wandsworth Prep School held its annual Christmas Gift Fair in aid of our chosen charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). We were delighted to welcome over 300 shoppers through the doors, all eager to see what gift ideas the 30 stallholders had on offer. As a result, the school raised over £800 for GOSH.
GOSH is a world class leading children’s hospital, which has been treating children with rare and complicated illnesses since it opened its doors in 1852. The charity, which is currently part-way through a huge rebuilding programme, needs to raise £50 million a year to help refurbish the hospital, buy vital equipment, provide accommodation and fund pioneering research. For example, a new heart and lung centre is currently planned to help children undergo life-saving surgery.
Amazing things happen at Great Ormond Street Hospital every day and, with the money we raised, we will enable the charity to help keep the magic alive for very ill children and their families.
We would also like to thank Valerie Clyne, a volunteer for GOSH, who kindly visited the school to attend a recent Monday morning assembly and who thanked both the children and staff for their support of the charity.
In addition, a big thank you to all of our stall holders and contributors of our fantastic raffle prizes for their support and for making this annual event another success for the Wandsworth Prep community.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
