We have many budding artists at Wandsworth Prep and like all successful artists, being commissioned for a specific purpose gives not only an opportunity for focus and creativity, but it is also a real challenge. Many of our Upper School artists took up the challenge of creating a piece of artwork for the Queen for her Jubilee.
Fleur Anderson, MP, asked all Wandsworth schools in her constituency to create a piece of art that she would present to the Queen on Wednesday 25th May. There was some wonderful artwork produced but Olive’s watercolour of the Queen in front of Windsor castle, surrounded by her beloved corgis and her favourite flowers (snowdrops), really caught our Judge’s eye (our very own School Council Leader, Miss Kate).
Olive was able to present her artwork for the Queen at a special reception to Fleur and to Wandsworth’s Mayor. Charlotte accompanied Olive as a representative of School Council who are organising all of our Jubilee celebrations this year. Bravo to Olive and to all the artists who took part - we look forward to exhibiting all their artwork at our special Jubilee lunch on Tuesday 7th June.
