We wish you could see into the Year 2 and 3 classrooms at the moment as you would be transported into another world, the Amazon rainforest! You might peek a cheeky monkey or a slow sloth hiding behind the rainforest leaves that the children have made. Coming back to school after so long away from the classroom, we wanted to make the learning experience as exciting as possible with the children having ownership of creating their very own rainforest. This then sparked interest and discussion that allowed us to develop an enquiry based big project, linking multiple areas of learning, based on the children's interests. In our very own 'rainforest', we have created our own new tribe, written inspired descriptions and narratives of the place that we live in, designed and created our own jewellery, written persuasive letters to companies to protect the rainforest, used palm oil sustainably and had a zoom call from Gabriella at the 'Survival' charity about how we could protect other tribes in the rainforest. We are looking forward to continuing the learning journey, building up to our big showcase at the end of the term!
