Nothing beats the great outdoors! Forest School is an important part of the curriculum because it gives the pupils a hands-on experience in a natural environment. They are encouraged to challenge themselves, take supported risks, build self-belief and taught how to deal with real life situations whilst appreciating nature. This is a time when they learn how to develop their collaborative skills and independent thinking as they solve problems.
The pupils had a really positive day despite the weather! The children in Reception and Year 1 were really excited to meet their new Reception buddies. They worked in groups mixed with current children and new Reception pupils to build shelters from the rain, which they then shared a special snack in. Parents got involved, which was great and the children worked collaboratively when carrying large logs and deciding how to build their shelter with their team. Both parents and children showed great WPS values such as being resilient, positive and independent. They all left with smiles on their faces as well as some new knowledge and skills.
