Half-time

13th February 2015

This week in PE, Reception continued to gain confidence in the pool. With the class now divided into two smaller groups the teachers can focus on the individual needs of each child which is paying dividends. The children are now showing an increased ability to maintain a buoyant body shape within the water. After half term the aim is to develop a stronger leg kick for all so that they can propel themselves through the water.

Year 1 have continued to develop their teamwork and communication skills by taking part in small relay style activities with the children taking it in turns to be the leader of their group. These relays have incorporated skills such as climbing over objects, crawling underneath objects, lateral side to side movements, skipping and running.

Year 2 and 3 have finished off the half term strongly on the games field. The children have gone from strength to strength and this has been reflected in the results so far this term. Both the boys and the girls have worked hard learning the game of TAG Rugby and have shown great character when challenging much larger schools in fixtures. Out of our four fixtures we won two, drew one and lost one.

Next half term we have a couple of football fixtures to look forward to and are in the process of arranging another netball training session for the girls. Also as a school we are looking into introducing hockey into our teaching syllabus.
