Introducing the 2013 Wandsworth Prep Teaching Team

Wandsworth Prep are delighted to announce our Teaching appointments for the 2013 - 2014 school year. Joining Miss Polly in the Reception class, we welcome Sheena Edwards as our Teaching Assistant. Sheena joins us from her current post at Merlin School, Putney, and holds a PGCE in Primary and Early Years Masters level from Roehampton University. Jessica Wilson joins us as our new Year 1 class teacher. Jessica joins us from her current post as Year 1 Class Teacher at Hook CoE Primary School, both a local Beacon and OFSTED Outstanding school in Yorkshire. Jessica holds a BA Honours in Primary Early Years Education from the University of West of England, Bristol, and will be taking on the responsibility of Maths Coordinator for the School. Miss Jessica will be supported by Mr Matt who will move up from Reception into our Year 1 team as Teaching Assistant. Helen Costantini joins our team as our LAMDA Drama specialist. She joins us with a wealth of drama teaching experience across a wide variety of independent schools in London, and is the founder of Theatre on the River, a youth theatre company in Battersea. From Year 1, children will have the opportunity to take part in weekly timetabled LAMDA lessons which focus on developing skills across a range of disciplines:
  • Acting
  • Devising Drama
  • Miming
  • Speaking Verse and Prose
  • Reading for Performance
  • Using Spoken English
  • Speaking in Public
Helen will also offer the chance for Reception pupils to take part in a lunch time Drama club. John Cronin, founder of JMC Music Tuition, will join our Music specialist team in September as our leader of Singing Activities. Each Monday, the whole school will be led by John in a singing assembly. John is a six times award winning choir director, recently winning his latest title at the North London Music Festival Choir Contest. John is also a classical guitar teacher and prepares his students for accreditation exams through ABRSM and Trinity College. Finally, we welcome the Fit for Sport team, Sam Bacon, Daniel Burton and Sam Idriss, as providers of our weekly multi-sport sessions for children in Reception and Year 1. With over 20 years’ experience, Fit for Sport have a proven reputation for delivering consistent, high quality, sustainable solutions to delivering an effective PE and Sport provision to schools. Fit For Sport is the only PE activity provider in the UK to be recognised by the Association for Physical Education (afPE) for its support of school staff Professional Development (PD) and its delivery of physical education and physical activity in schools and in their wider communities. Fit For Sport are members of the afPE professional board where their OFSTED recognised schemes of work, programme of study, lesson plans (including cross curriculum links), assessments/attainment targets and quality assurance are all supported. We are thrilled to have such an experienced and dedicated teaching team on board, and I am sure you will all join me in welcoming them to Wandsworth Prep School.
