‘Learning for the 21st Century’: Wandsworth Prep Staff benefit from group-wide training
11th September 2014
Teaching staff from Wandsworth Prep started the new academic year with shared training workshops, with other UK schools within the Bellevue Education group, on the topic of ‘Learning for the 21st Century’.
Led by Nigel Battey, who has over 30 years’ experience in education, both as a Headteacher and as a Director of Services, the sessions explored the most effective teaching strategies and tools to fully involve children in their own learning. Focus was on the need to develop pupils who are well equipped for future challenges, able to work together and adapt to change, and who are instilled with the desire to ask their own questions.
The workshops allowed staff to collaborate with colleagues within the Bellevue group and to share best practice, and ideas developed at the sessions are already being applied in the classrooms at Wandsworth Prep, to benefit pupils this term.
Acting Headteacher, Bridget Saul said, “Ensuring that our learners are more involved in the learning process in terms of understanding their next steps, is one of our key targets upon which we will focus as a staff. The material covered at the group INSET has given us a very clear starting point.”
