We have been celebrating this year's Maths Week at WPS and we kicked it off with a highly anticipated visit from Manga High! Bringing to life the website that our children use on a daily basis was an extraordinary success, as experts from the website gave Middle and Upper School some dynamic and live sessions.
The week continued with a some Maths game tournaments. The children played and competed in the much loved 'Dotty 6' and the new to WPS '2 Stones' strategy games. Each class played the games to find their champions, before the finalists played against each other to find Lower, Middle and Upper School Champions and eventually Whole School Champions.
Problem solving and hands-on activities were the inspiration for the week as Maths lessons were a furore of excitement and enthusiasm. Maths was even included across the other subjects throughout the week to embrace the theme
Maths Week 2020 culminated with the children leading some Parent workshops, where parents were taught how to play our strategy games by their children. There was a wonderful atmosphere as children thrived in not only being teachers, but also vanquishing their parents. Our Champions were celebrated and certificates handed out.
Without a doubt, 2020 will be a year full of enthusiasm and drive for Maths! We can't wait to see it bear fruit!
Here's a video of what we got up to!
