Head of Lower School and Year 1 class teacher Carla Richie, recently participated in Bellevue Education's Senior Leaders Course. Held at Weston Green School in Thames Ditton and run by the school's Headteacher, Mr Mike Harrison, Carla was joined by six other teachers from Bellevue schools.
At the last session, staff analysed themselves as leaders as well as analysing others in the group. They discussed this together, focusing on individual strengths and areas for development. Carla found this particularly useful saying, “I personally found it really affirming and incredibly useful to know what my colleagues thought about me as a leader, as well as knowing exactly what areas I should be developing further.”
In the second part of the session, they worked on examining body language. The group were encouraged to think about their own body language and how this can communicate certain messages to others. The group looked specifically at how they could stand and deliver important information in a way which conveys confidence.
Reflecting on course, Carla said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed the Senior Leadership Training so far. What I particularly enjoy about the course is that it makes you step back and critically examine your practice especially in relation to your interactions with others. I am very much looking forward to the final session in June.”
