New Reception Introduction Morning

A cracking start to new beginnings

When children begin their school journey in Reception, it is important that they have positive associations and experiences with the school building and the people in it, before their very first day in Reception. That’s why we go to enormous efforts to make sure that the children and their families feel connected before they’ve even begun school!

On Sunday 13th March, we held an Easter activity morning where the new Reception class for September 2022 could use Reception’s free flow area and take part in a variety of activities, themed around Easter. Miss Kate and Miss Zola wanted the children to explore, enticing them with activities that made them curious and encouraged them to get involved with their learning through play.

To inject some Wandsworth Prep fun, we were very lucky to be entertained by a magician who made all of the children laugh (not to mention the adults) before finishing with an all important Easter Egg Hunt. Whilst Miss Kate settled her new class of Reception children in the Reception classroom, reading a story, the parents and siblings hid eggs all around the playground.

Many parents have kindly emailed to say how much their child enjoyed the event, and how they were eager to start right away rather than waiting until September! That’s exactly why these events will help all children to settle quickly and happily in September. Next stop - Forest School picnic in the summer term…
