Pancake Day Celebrations with Miss Melissa

15th February 2013

On Shrove Tuesday, the children at Wandsworth Prep were treated to a very special Pancake making workshop by Headteacher Miss Melissa, who as a Canadian knows a thing or two about pancakes and maple syrup. Commonly known by some of our families as ‘Fete de la Chandeleur’ and ‘Mardis Gras’, our Pancake Day workshop was a fantastic opportunity for the children to work together to practise some of the cooking skills they have been learning this term. Miss Melissa spoke to the children about the importance of Pancake Day, how the day is celebrated and the story of how pure maple syrup is made in Canada. The children were thrilled to be given the opportunity to taste the delicious maple syrup which Miss Melissa brought over from Canada, and to watch Miss Melissa show off her pancake flipping skills in the kitchen.
