At Wandsworth Prep, a new initiative has been introduced to bring language learning to life. A pen pal scheme has been introduced with a small school in Northern Spain whereby pupils from both countries will be able to practise the language they learn in class for genuine communication purposes, either orally or in writing. Pupils in Key Stage 2 have spent this term extending the vocabulary that they have learned in class to write postcards to their pen pals in Spain. Specifically, pupils have been focussing on being able to ask and give answers to simple questions such as asking people's name, their age, how they are feeling and where they live. Some pupils have challenged themselves and used different idioms in their postcards. Following the postcards, pupils will be making short videos using i-pads to send to the pupils in Spain where they will speak about themselves. We look forward to sharing these videos in due course.
In the meantime, take a look at some of the postcards completed by Years 3 and 4 (the first two are Year 3 and the remaining two are from Year 4)
