Easy-Peasy Public Speaking with Deon NewBronner
Every aspect of life requires a confidence to do, to be, to achieve, to make a success of who we are and what we do. And it's not the proverbial "fake it till you make it" kind of success. More, a real inner confidence.
One such aspect is the all-fearing dreaded public speaking. And yet communicating, whether 1-2-1 or in a more formal presentation sense, doesn't have to be this way. Over the past month Year 5 & 6 have had an opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking skills in fun-filled laugh-out-loud workshops. We've had such fun and at the same time we learnt so much about ourselves.
We've explored both the interior aspect (the heart and mind) of good public speaking and the external skills that can influence how we show up and present - communicating with passion and presence!
Many (including Churchill and Maya Angelou) have said, "people may forget what you say. They may even forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
This is never more true with the impact Year 5 & 6 will have as they continue to master the craft of easy-peasy public speaking. Becoming clear communicators is one of the three aims on the school development plan and having the ability to speak publicly for a multitude of reasons with confidence and coherence is what we want to enable our students to do. With the help of this public speaking workshop, the children are a step closer to achieving that goal.
