Rainforest Showcase

Year 2 and 3 parents were transported into the Amazonian rainforest where they saw a new amazonian tribe prepare for a special ceremony in our main virtual performance space. Using virtual breakout rooms, families were then transported to smaller rooms where they watched videos, featuring the children, that educated them about tribal life, the animals, flora and fauna of the amazonian rainforest. The Middle School children put their parents through their paces by running a quiz to check their families had been listening! After announcing the family winners, we returned back to the main virtual performance space where they performed the poem, 'There's a Rang-tan in my bedroom' which highlighted the plight of orangutans due to the use of palm oil and the deforestation of the amazon. The breakout rooms were a new feature of our virtual events and it gave a greater intimacy between parents and children, giving them the opportunity to interact in a small group setting. We are always looking at new ways of sharing children's learning with their parents and this virtual event was a new technological step forward. Well done parents and children for embracing our virtual world!
