This half term the children in Lower School have worked incredibly hard to prepare and perform their first ever nativity play, 'Born in a Barn', performed at Putney Arts Theatre.
In preparation for the show, we were fortunate enough to have two workshops organised by the Group64 teachers from Putney Arts Theatre. During the workshops, the children practised developing their characters, particularly thinking about using their facial expressions and movement to bring their character to life. Throughout the rehearsal period, the children worked incredibly hard to learn their lines, eight songs (including actions), dance moves, and remembering where they needed to be on stage for each scene.
Working together to put on a performance such as this, helps to develop pupils’ confidence, from a young age.
On the day of the performance, the children had the theatre to themselves to become familiar with the space, rehearse and perform to the parents in Lower School. A special thank you to Amy and Kate, from Group64 at Putney Arts Theatre, for helping to make the nativity play such a huge success. Thank you also to the parents for your support in helping your child to learn their lines and for providing such fantastic costumes. We are hugely proud of the children and hope you enjoyed the performance as much as we did.
