Spelling Bee Superstars

During the final weeks of online learning, KS2 children took part in the Bellevue Education inter school Spelling Bee. We began by doing class/year group heats before moving on to Year 3 vs Year 4 and Year 5 vs Year 6 heats. The winners from these were Nathaniel Y (Year 3) and Charlie BH (Year 5). These children went on to compete against children from other Bellevue schools in their age categories. Both of them did amazingly well and Charlie even got to 3rd place in the final! You can see how tough the words he had to spell were by watching him in the final here.

We asked the boys about their experiences of the Spelling Bee. Nathaniel said 'I felt a bit nervous, but I used my growth mindset and spelt lots of words right!' Charlie said 'It was really hard work but I am really proud of myself, although it was hard to knock friends out of the competition'. We think both children embodied all our WPS values of fearlessness, independence, inspiration, collaboration, kindness, positivity and most certainly resilience!

Well done to everyone who took part.
