Sport Round Up: Focusing on Agility

This half term in PE we are working on two new topics. On Wednesdays, we have been working on strength and conditioning and on Thursdays, we have started tag rugby.

Pupils have been working on the fundamentals of fitness including: strength, power, agility, endurance, speed, balance and coordination. They have been set a challenge to beat their personal best record and to try and push themselves to the limit. Each week, a different topic will be taught. This week, agility was the main topic and pupils were allowed to discover which parts of their body really help them in changing direction.

We have also been focusing on the importance of hydration; learning what it means and the amount of water we should be drinking each day.

In tag rugby, pupils have enjoyed focusing on evasive skills for example side steps, change of speed and change of direction. Alongside this, we have been working on the basic skills and rules of tag rugby such as no forward passing.
