Sport Round Up: Introducing Dance and Hockey

The second half of Spring Term introduces two new sports subjects to the curriculum for pupils: Dance and Hockey.

For Lower School, Dance has been an opportunity for the children to learn the six basic moves of dance and use their imagination to put these into a small routine each lesson.

As well as the six basic moves, Middle and Upper School have been enjoying the choreography side of dance; learning the sequence of steps and movements in dance. At the end of each lesson, the children perform their routines they have put together, so they can demonstrate what they have learnt in the lesson.

In Hockey, the sweep and slide shooting technique is the most important skill that pupils learn to master first. As well as focusing on shooting, we have briefly covered the correct dribbling technique for Upper School, which is the Indian dribble, whilst Lower and Middle School have been focusing on ball mastery and control.
