Whilst the summer term has been relatively quiet on the fixture front, it has not dimmed the children's enthusiasm for sport. We have been fortunate enough to have two athletics meetings this half of term to boost the competitiveness of the children and give others the confidence of competing. Athletics is a wonderful opportunity for those who may find other sports not to their liking, whether that is them showing their jumping or throwing ability or how long they are able to run for. The fixtures give them a chance to push themselves further, to heights they might not reach if only competing against their peers. This is exactly what we saw. We saw a fantastic rivalry in the 5&6 meeting, with children setting new personal bests in a variety of events, especially the middle distance and the sprint. In the year 3&4 meeting, the children pushed themselves incredibly hard, achieving some excellent jumping results. This serves as the perfect warmup ahead of both the ISA athletics after half term and our Sports Day - held at Wimbledon Athletics track on Wednesday 15th June, which I know will be a great event.
