Upper School begin their environment-focused project

Years 4, 5 and 6 have enjoyed a fantastic start to their latest project.

Year 6 pupils Kristine, Max and Rafe explain the project in their own report:

Destroyed habitats, litter scattered across the ocean, factory smoke filling the air, animals on the verge of extinction. Is this the future of our planet? At Wandsworth Prep we are horrified by the idea of this and want to do something about it. We value the natural beauty of the Earth, we are fascinated by animals and their habitats. Imagine if the world was pollution free, if we only used renewable energy sources, if we all did a little bit to look after our incredible environment.

To try and solve the problems that humankind have created, we have built a time machine so that we can travel back in time to learn from our past! We hope to find solutions and bring back ideas about how we can survive, travel and enjoy life without using electricity. We have called our team 'The Environmentals'.

Last week we took our time machine to the forest and went back in time to the Stone Age to learn some key survival techniques and tips. Where will our next adventure take us?  Do you want the world to survive a little longer? Do you care about future generations? Please help us on our mission and start making a difference!

Here are some of our ideas:

  • Take your own bag to the supermarket
  • Reduce, reuse, recycle
  • Walk, scoot or cycle to school if you can
  • Turn off lights and unplug appliances when you don't need them
  • Put you litter in a bin or recycle it
  • Take a flask to a coffee shop

Remember, every little decision has a positive impact.
