Using drama to enrich pupils’ writing in Key Stage 2

We use drama as a tool to help us both fully immerse ourselves in our enquiry led projects and to enrich our writing. When pupils have emotionally connected to something and used language and have felt things attached to an event such as World War 2, the quality in both word choice and ideas are much more sophisticated.

Watch this short snippet of our drama workshop from Tuesday. Here you will see children using physical theatre to be broken pieces of furniture, searching through the rubble that is their home and being sent to the country as both evacuee children and the mothers they are leaving. Finally, they can be seen putting an important item into their suitcase. They are ready to take the journey to the country.
