Wandsworth Prep were delighted to hear that four of our Upper School writers had made it through to the second round of Radio 2's 500 Word Story Competition!
Each year, Radio 2 launch the largest short story writing competition in the country where children can write up to 500 words on a story about any subject of their choice. There are 5 judging criteria: originality, characterisation, plot, enjoyment and language.
Years 4 and 5 and 6 all submitted stories after a half-term committed to short story analysis and story development. All of the children's stories were made into books which were shared with their parents on World Book Day and will now be shared with the younger children in the school.
We were very proud of all of the children's efforts and the first round judges put the stories of Amaya and Chloe in Year 4, Isla in Year 5 and Rafe in Year 6 through to the second round. Last year there were over 131,000 story entries and only 5000 made it through to the second round! For our four children to have been selected through to the second round is an incredible achievement.
Congratulations to our fantastic authors: Amaya, Chloe, Isla and Rafe!
