Wandsworth Prep School brings Christmas Cheer to Canine Partners

6th December 2012

Wandsworth Preparatory School’s first Christmas fair, held on 4 December, has raised £814.98 for Canine Partners. The event saw our school welcome over 300 visitors to the school to enjoy mince pies and festive drinks and over 40 stalls offering gifts for all ages. Representatives from Canine Partners, Eileen and her mobility assistance dog, Sailor, were on hand at the fair to welcome the Christmas shoppers.  Eileen and Sailor will also be attending a very special assembly on Monday 10 December to thank both the children and staff for their support of the charity, which provides specially trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities. The money that we have raised for Canine Partners through the Wandsworth Prep Gift Fair will allow us to reach our first charity goal this year of sponsoring a puppy. This will enable Canine Partners to purchase another dog for training, to become an assistance dog of the future. As a puppy sponsor, our children will be able to receive a photo of the puppy, personal certificate and introduction letter, and to track the puppy’s progress over the years, providing a valuable and meaningful learning experience for our children. Our aim is to raise enough money this year to enable us to not only sponsor a dog, but also support the dog through its first year of puppy school giving us the opportunity to name our own dog and take part in its partnership ceremony. Melissa McBride, Head Teacher of Wandsworth Prep School, said: “We are delighted to have supported our chosen charity, Canine Partners at our first Christmas fair and would like to say a big thank you to all the families who attended and to all of our stallholders, who helped to make the event a great success. In particular, the Fair would not have been possible without the fantastic project managing of our Registrar, Fiona Heath, and support of our Friends of Wandsworth Prep Parents' Association.” We wish to thank all of our stall holders and contributors of our fantastic raffle prizes for their support and for making this inaugural event such a success for the Wandsworth Prep community.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
