Wandsworth pupils raise almost £4000 for local charity

We are very pleased to have raised almost £4000 over the last academic year, for local charity The Squad which provides essential support to people with learning disabilities.

Organised by the school’s Parents’ Association, we held a number of fundraising events throughout the academic year, including a Dress Down Day, a Cake Sale and a Bad Hair Day – all of which contributed to the total amount raised.

In addition, Year 2 and 3 Class Teachers, Mr Luke Butterworth and Miss Sophie Eve, linked their class projects with The Squad. Using computing and design and technology skills, pupils planned and constructed games to give to The Squad’s members as well as raising additional funds at an end-of-term Games Night.

Commenting on the project, Mr Luke Butterworth said: “Working with charities and the local community forms a very important part of Wandsworth Prep School’s curriculum. All the pupils were really keen to make the games and raise money for The Squad and were particularly driven to support the charity in enabling it to continue to run its club nights for members. They did such a fantastic job and I am really proud of them all."

Charlie Bowrey, Marketing Trustee at The Squad, commented, “We are overwhelmed by the generosity the school has shown in donating almost £4,000 to us which will make a significant difference to The Squad and enables us to pursue some projects which would otherwise not have been possible. On behalf of everyone at The Squad, I'd like to thank everyone who took part and contributed.”
