Developing Skills in Gymnastics, Rugby and Swimming

Throughout the last two weeks, in gymnastics, the children have developed their understanding of body management and control, how they activate different muscle groups and the art of creating a routine. Children performed various exercises such as ‘dish’ and ‘arch’ which require core and stabilising abilities. Furthermore, the children succeeded at adding different movements to their routines, including splits, headstands and broad jumps with shapes.

The children have also been developing their rugby skills in their P.E. lessons. The sessions have focused on how the children can use their evasive skills to get away from defenders by changing direction and speed as well as using side steps and spins. These skills have helped the children to beat their opponents by confusing and unbalancing them.

Finally, Upper School had their first fixture for 2019 with the children competing at a swimming fixture with Parkgate School. Each child had the opportunity to compete in more than two events, one individual and one relay. The children competed in front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. Well done to all the children for their fantastic efforts!
