Each term, children from across the school buddy up and read together. 'Buddy Reading' is part of our rich reading curriculum and not only supports the younger children with their fluency and comprehension skills but also enables the older children to develop their questioning skills and gain confidence in helping others.
This term, children from Year 5 and Year 2 collaborated and spent some quality time together doing some 'Buddy Reading'. The Year 5 children gained a lot from mentoring the younger children while the Year 2 children enjoyed the challenge of reading to their peers and listening to established readers in Upper School.
In addition, it is lovely for the children to develop more friendships across different year groups. Watch the Year 5 and Year 2 children take part in their 'Buddy Reading' session below.
