As the leaves continue to fall from the trees, we have been discussing Harvest Festival. Reception were treated to a very special talk on the importance of Harvest by one of our pupils granddad’s, who is also a Vicar at his parish church. As the children learnt about the importance of charity and in honour of Harvest Festival we collected a huge amount of non-perishables for Wandsworth Women's Aid. Many thanks to all those parents who donated the much needed and much appreciated food items.
This week we have also been celebrating National Book Week as part of our focus on literacy. We held a very special Book Day on Monday 7 October, where each child brought in £1 to come to school dressed as their favourite character. Costumes varied from Spiderman to Horrid Henry and an array of princesses! On Thursday 10th October, our PTA held a Book Swap where children were treated to a new book and a delicious cupcake for a £1 donation for charity. The money raised was donated to our school charity this year, Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity.
Congratulations also to Sophie Long, chair of our PTA, who completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Saturday 6 October in Hyde Park in aid of our school charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. So far, Sophie has raised £290. If you would like to donate to Sophie’s Just Giving page, please visit: http://www.justgiving.com/Sophie-Long3
