WPS Mum Runs London Marathon for Canine Partners

29th April 2013

Wandsworth Prep are so thrilled to report that our very own PTA chair, Sophie Long, took part in the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 21st April and raised an outstanding £1341 for our school charity Canine Partners. Amazingly, Sophie only started running just over a year ago, and spent many a long morning training in cold, dark and rainy conditions as she added up the miles in order to prepare for the big event. “The training has been tough, especially those cold, snowy, wet, windy days where the warmth of indoors plagues your mind as you run further and further away from that comfort. However all the way through I've thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of achievement, the early morning light and the usually bustling London streets and parks in the tranquility of dawn.” The children were excited to hear from Sophie in the Spring term, during our weekly parent workshop sessions, about the hard work, training and dedication it takes to prepare for this event, and has no doubt inspired others to hit the ground running. Sophie has been a wonderful ambassador for the school, and we are immensely proud of her personal achievement.
