It happened! It finally happened! After over a year of having no parents witnessing the magic of our school life, Sports Day 2021 took place. Having been told that over the years, Sports Day was always the hottest day of the year, I was shocked that we had to postpone it at the first attempt due to unrelenting rain. However, all good things come to those who wait, and at last we had our event, full of cheering, competitiveness, collaborating and sportsmanship.
With the day set out slightly differently this year, the children were allocated a team to win points for, depending on where they finished in their events. This engendered a real feeling of team spirit. Whilst the children were doing their bit, you, the parent body did yours, cheering from the stand, waving, clapping and encouraging every child to try their hardest.
By the end of the day, it was the yellow team who was victorious, led by their PE leader James. There was also a new trophy, the Victrix and Victor Ledorum, which was given to the boy and girl who earned the most points across the different events from Year 5 and 6. This year, the champions were Harry and then a tie between Brooklyn and Alexa - all worthy winners.
None of this would have been possible without the help of the staff, especially Mr Luke, whose help in setting up was invaluable. I hope that you all enjoyed the grand spectacle and that come September, we have the chance to see you at further school events.
Mr David
