Wandsworth Preparatory School is delighted to announce we will be launching a Year 3 class this September, a full year ahead of schedule.
Currently, we have Reception and Year 1 classes, and will be introducing the additional Year Group to coincide with the existing Year 1 children moving up into Year 2. The decision follows significant interest from Wandsworth parents, largely as a result of the school having been awarded ‘Outstanding in all Areas’ by Ofsted in its first inspection in June 2013.
Known for our pioneering techniques, Wandsworth Prep is one of the first schools in London to teach all of its pupils using iPads, as well as taking children back to nature with outdoor ‘Forest School’ lessons all year round.
Our new Year 3 class will be led by Miss Jessica Wilson, alongside specialist teachers in: PE, Art, Drama, PSHE, Music, Spanish and French. Jessica has taught Year 1 at the school since September 2013 and is looking forward to delivering a dynamic, inquiry-based, Year 3 curriculum.
Miss Jess commented: “It’s an exciting time for the school as we move into Key Stage 2 and I’m very much looking forward to being part of it. My focus will be on developing the curriculum, based on what the children show an interest in. I will also be building on many of the well-received learning initiatives already implemented by the school, such as iPad learning.”
Headteacher Melissa McBride, added: “I’m thrilled that we’re able to extend our Year Groups so far ahead of our original plans. The interest from parents for a Year 3 has been overwhelming and is a fantastic reward for the last two years’ worth of hard work we’ve put in to provide an education which is inspiring and engaging. Ask any of our pupils and they’ll tell you just how much they love learning!”
Families interested in our Year 3 class are invited to attend our forthcoming Open Event which will be taking place from 09:00 – 10:30 on Tuesday 29th April 2014.
