The Year 3 pupils at Wandsworth Prep School have helped make history by taking part in Steve McQueen’s Tate Britain project.
The project will bring together Year 3 class photos from Primary Schools across London into one large-scale installation. Capturing thousands of children at this age and at a milestone year in their development, aims to gain insight into London and the future of the city.
The project itself was inspiring to take part in and created lots of great opportunities for cross-curricular learning. The children worked on their collaboration skills by creating a piece of collaborative art as well as exploring and creating action plans for their future jobs in PSHE.
The discussion created from this once in a lifetime opportunity was so engaging; children had the opportunity to explore and question ideologies about how they were growing up, where they lived and uniqueness of people and their individual talents.
Year 3 really can't wait to see their portrait in the Tate Britain with all other Year 3 classes that took part in London. See some photos from this project here.
