Pupils' Work

Year 3 and 4’s Topic Presentation

24th Mar 2016

On Tuesday 22nd March 2016, Year 3 and 4, or should we say I.T.M (The International Tour of Magical Movement), treated their families and friends to a showcase of their learning.

The evening began in the main hall which was transformed into a Science Museum.  There, experts stood waiting behind stands to explain different types of scientific movement.  The areas were: friction, electricity, wheels and axles, springs, gears, sound, light, levers, magnets, pulleys and moving inventions linked to Leonardo da Vinci.  All of our pupils not only explained their area of expertise but engaged their audience with activities or quizzes to check their understanding.  The scientists (the children) used excellent presenting skills and were able to adapt their presentation to a variety of audiences.

The audience were then invited to a special, one-off author event.  Their child (the author) had published their first ever novel and were available for author readings!  Parents had the opportunity to join ‘the author’ in their publishing ‘nooks’ to watch their promotional book launch video and then to read their books.  They even got a signed photograph!

After an interval, the hall was transformed into the Wandsworth Big Top and the audience were transported into an imaginary world ruled by The Ministry of Motionless Muscles where children were only allowed to sit still whilst playing and learning on screens.  There was a new movement, the Children of the Revolution, who had found a secret location to move and be free.  The performers treated us to gymnastics, dance, mime and finally djembe drumming which brought the house down!

All children were presented with copies of an E-book outlining all of their learning that had taken place during this project.  Well done to Year 3 and 4 on an incredible term, fantastic learning and superb showcase!
