Headteacher’s Blog: And so the story unfolds…

26th September 2014 | School Blog

Last week, I wrote that I could not wait for learning to progress, and I am far from disappointed. What astounds me is the level of enthusiasm which pervades all our classrooms, without exception. For Years 2 and 3 to be so immersed in their scientific enquiry, all donned in lab coats and note books in hand, that the end of the school day comes too soon, is no mean feat. Our writers in Year 1 were a challenge to distract when the clock struck 10am for morning break, not even Mr Abdel's fresh fruit faces could tempt some of them from penning their thoughts.Expecting to hear some recounts of Goldilocks and the three bears, instead, children in Reception explained the cooling process as warm being the next stage after hot when cold is added, a concept understood through the medium of making porridge.Only this morning, I saw Year 3 working on multiplication sentences under the guise of fairground designers. I would certainly trust them to estimate how many passengers would fit on a roller coaster in years to come, should they choose to design innovative fair rides for the future. What makes learning so special at Wandsworth Prep, is the consistent drive to ensure that, at any given moment, learning tasks are as relevant and as real as they possibly can be.Miss Bridget
