Full team ahead!

28th February 2015

This week in PE, Reception have continued with their bird theme playing a game called ‘Rob the Nest’. The class was divided into four small teams as the children had to travel to the nest in the middle, take a piece of treasure and return to their own nest in the forest. The children travelled in various different ways including running and skipping whilst imitating animals. This game provided a perfect opportunity for the children to experience working as part of a small team and develop their understanding of teamwork and sharing.

Year 1 have been developing their catching, using medium sized balls. Our focus has been to maintain eye contact with the ball at all times and to use two hands to catch the ball. The children worked individually and then in pairs, bouncing the ball for their partner to catch before finishing with a game of ‘Kings and Queens’.

This week has been an exciting week for the boys in Years 2 and 3, who took on Eridge House at football. The game ended in a 2-2 draw and the boys were unlucky not to claim their first football victory. Max and Charles Northey scored the goals.

Elsewhere, children in Years 2 and 3 have started to learn the basic rules of rounders. In the next couple of weeks we hope to work on our fielding skills and to develop our hand/eye coordination using tennis rackets to begin with before moving on to use smaller bats.
