Head teacher’s blog: It’s starting to look a bit like Christmas…

20th November 2014 | School Blog

I have been reliably informed by children in Years 2 and 3 that Father Christmas is seeking to review his present delivery round this year in order to optimise efficiency and quality, following some complaints last year that some presents were precariously placed under the Christmas tree.Pivotal to achieving this aim is a sleigh which will withstand the various weather systems which Father Christmas will encounter as he journeys from the North Pole this Christmas Eve. It seems rather timely, that children in Years 2 and 3 have been investigating the properties of durable materials in the Science and Design and Technology lessons. What Father Christmas now has at his fingertips to enable him to make an informed decision, is a choice of carefully designed sleighs from which to choose to ensure his journey this year is as smooth and trouble free as possible, thus focussing on the task in hand; safely delivering presents to children around the world. What might happen, however, is Rudolph's nose is not sufficiently able to penetrate the thick cloud in the winter skies? Father Christmas' sleigh comes with a strict itinerary to which he must adhere, mapped across the seven continents with oceans, seas, mountains and cities clearly marked, eliminating the possibility of error. The results of a Geography lesson with objectives which will be so tangible on Christmas Day.Miss Bridget
