On Friday 17th October, each child left school laden with a tube full of smarties. First task, eat the smarties! Second task, fill the tube with 20p pieces. One caveat, each 20p has to be earned on completion of a good deed.During half-term, 532 good deeds were committed in and around the children's homes. Aside from tidier bedrooms, cleaner kitchens and bathrooms, the deeds earned a commendable £177.65 for our chosen charity. The deeds were diverse. Amongst how some of the children earned their 20 pence pieces were; rescuing worms from a hockey pitch, not complaining during a boring shopping trip and walking, losing, then finding gran dad's dog.The 1, 750 smarties consumed, 532 good deeds committed and £177.65 raised will translate in to 17 new desks for children at rural schools in Kenya where educational equipment is so desperately needed.
