Miss Jess’ Blog:  Why I’m Looking Forward to Year 3’s ‘Moving Up Morning’

5th June 2014

I am beginning to become extremely excited about the upcoming 'Moving Up Morning' and the prospect of meeting all the children who will be in my new Year 3 class from September. The morning will not only be a fantastic opportunity for both myself and the children to become familiar with one another, but it will also allow the children time to become reassured and prepared for what to expect in September. In recent weeks, I have been busily preparing and resourcing the classroom ready for their arrival, and can't wait to spend the morning exploring the environment with them on 24 June. I am looking forward to taking part in a variety of fun activities with the children, which will help us to learn about each other and for the children to gain an insight into some of the exciting activities that they can look forward to when they join us at Wandsworth Prep in September.Examples of some fun activities which the children may expect to experience during their visit are:
  • Creating a passport into Year 3 (opportunity for the children to share information about themselves: favourite food, sport, subject, brothers/sister, etc.)
  • Hopes and wishes for Year 3
  • Pop Art portraits in the style of Andy Warhol (these will be be put up as our first classroom display!)
  • Weaving portraits
  • Zombie name game
  • Keeper of the keys
  • Wink murder
  • Heads down, thumbs up
I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone on Tuesday 24 June!Miss Jess
