Headteacher’s Blog: Take your Picasso!

10th October 2014 | School Blog

IMAG0514Buying a Picasso replica, I have always believed, might involve flights to New York or incessant trawling of the Yellow Pages from John o Groats to Land's End to locate a suitable art dealer. It seems, however, that all this time, I have been somewhat deluded. I cannot quite describe the genuine awe and wonder with which I stood back and studied Year 1's adaptations of Picasso's Seated Woman and Girl Before a Mirror. For children of such a young age to produce work with such precision is the result of skilled and careful planning, yet it appears so easily achievable at Wandsworth Prep. The Key Stage 2 Science National Curriculum states that children in Year 3 should understand the properties of different gases so, what better way to ensure this than to light candles in varying sized jars with the aim of finding out which one would see us the furthest in to the caves during our next visit to the island.I have one overriding concern.  Where are our Reception class? This afternoon, a message was given to me in a plastic bottle, 17 children have sailed to sea!Miss Bridget
