At Wandsworth Prep, children typically join us at age three in Pre-Prep Nursery or age four in Reception. However, we understand that sometimes families need a change of school during their child’s primary school years, whether that be mid-year or for a September start.
We are always happy to welcome mid-year admissions for families seeking a new school or a better fit for their child. We also warmly welcome families who are relocating to London and may need to secure a school place before arriving in the UK. In these cases, we are pleased to offer video calls with our team, allowing you to get to know the school, ask questions, and feel confident in your decision from wherever you are in the world.
If you are considering a move, we warmly invite you to meet our Head, Mrs Jo Pache, for a 1:1 tour. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the school in action and discover what makes our community so special. For those joining from abroad, we are pleased to offer video calls with our team if you can’t make it to us in person, allowing you to get to know the school, ask questions, and feel confident in your decision from wherever you are in the world.
A day in the life
Children joining Years 1 to 6 are invited to spend a taster day with the class they hope to join. This gives them the chance to experience lessons, meet their peers, and get a true feel for daily life at the school.
We look beyond prior attainment, focusing instead on each child’s potential, enthusiasm for learning, and willingness to engage with our broad and enriching curriculum. Our taster days are designed first and foremost to ensure that each child will be happy and confident in our environment.
Following a successful visit, we offer a place if we can meet needs and begin supporting your child’s and family’s transition into school life.
First Day and beyond
Before the first day, parents would have received information beforehand about timetables, clubs, uniform and our parent portal system. On the first day of school each child will be given a buddy to show them around and to help them settle in. Our team will carry out some light assessments to check where the children are and if there are gaps in the learning so that we can support and stretch them.
