While our children were enjoying a well-earned summer break, we were busy behind the scenes giving our playground an exciting makeover ready for the new school year.
Outdoor space is so important to school life. Playtime is not just a chance for children to let off steam, it is an opportunity to develop friendships, build confidence, practise teamwork and enjoy being active. With this in mind, we wanted to make the very most of the space we have and create an even more exciting environment for our pupils.
Over the summer, we made a number of improvements to our playground, including the installation of new sports Astro, giving the children a fantastic surface for games and physical activities throughout the year.
We have also reduced and updated the decking area, creating more valuable space for children to run, play and enjoy during break and lunchtime. Making better use of the existing space means there is now more room for active play and for children to choose how they spend their time outdoors.
One of the most exciting additions is our new traversing climbing frame, kindly funded by our wonderful PTA.
It has already proved to be a huge hit! The children have been busy climbing, balancing, navigating the course and challenging themselves to go a little further each time. Activities like this provide much more than physical exercise—they encourage children to develop coordination, perseverance, problem-solving skills and resilience, all while having fun with their friends.
The best part of the makeover has been seeing the children back at school and making the new playground their own.
Over the past two weeks, it has been wonderful to watch them climbing, running, playing, exploring and making up their own games. The new equipment and additional space have brought a real sense of energy to playtimes, and the children’s excitement has been lovely to see.
We can’t wait to see how the children continue to enjoy and make the most of their new playground throughout the year! 💙
