🌳 Forest school is a much loved part of life at Wandsworth Prep. Last week our new Reception and Pre Prep Nursery children experienced it for the first time, it was a wonderful way to end the first full week!
☀️ 🌧️ Come rain or shine, our amazing forest school lead Ms Sokoli ...guides the children through hands on, experiential leading to build confidence, resilience, teamwork and a willingness to take risks.
Activities are carefully linked to seasonal changes and follow our curriculum, giving children the opportunity to explore, discover and connect with nature in a meaningful way 🌱 ✨

🧗 🏫 While the children were enjoying their summer holidays, we were busy making some exciting improvements to our playground! We’ve added new sports Astro, a traversing climbing frame (kindly funded by our PTA) and reduced and updated the decking to create more space to play!
...It’s been fantastic to see the children enjoying their new look playground over the past two weeks, climbing, running, playing and making the most of their bigger and brighter space 🏃♂️ ☀️

As part of this term’s project, Year 1 and Year 2 visited the Wetlands Centre @wwtlondon this week for a wonderfully immersive day of learning.
The children took part in an engaging workshop all about minibeasts, working collaboratively to sort them based on their features before heading... outdoors to search for their own! 🔎
They discovered worms, spiders, ladybird larvae, snails, grasshoppers and woodlice, before taking the time to carefully observe and sketch what they had found ✏️ 🐌
Despite the rain, the children had a fantastic time getting hands on with their learning. A wonderful opportunity to explore, investigate and discover beyond the classroom 🌳

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Joanna Desforges as Head of Wandsworth Prep from January 2027.
Jo joins us from Hurlingham School in Putney, where she is currently Deputy Head, Teaching, Learning and Innovation. She brings more than 15 years of experience in education, ...with a career spanning independent co-educational prep schools.
Jo’s journey into education began when she retrained as a teacher after her own children started school. Her passion is putting each individual child at the heart of their education and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Speaking about her appointment, Jo said:
“For me, it is about being part of a community with a shared purpose and values; getting to know every child and having fun while exploring learning in a creative and dynamic environment. Wandsworth Prep already has strong foundations, with high-quality teaching and learning at its heart, and I’m excited by the opportunity to build on these — embracing innovation and continuing to develop a warm, welcoming and truly unique school community.”

We held our annual back to school games afternoon yesterday and it was great to see so many children, as well as new starters and their families 💙
It was the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new teachers and enjoy some ...time together before the start of term today.
And, of course, the newly refurbished playground was a huge hit. Our climbing wall was especially popular, with lots of children putting it to the test 🧗♂️
