Providing children with the opportunity to both write and perform poetry is at the heart of why we hold our annual Wandsworth Prep Poetry Cafe. It is a much-loved Wandsworth Prep event and one which involves the whole school coming together to share their own thoughts and ideas around a poem as well as the opportunity to share other poetry written by published poets!
This year, we were delighted to see the journey through the school with our youngest poets each having their own line to say in a class poem right through to our eldest children reciting their own carefully crafted pieces. What always strikes me is the true diversity that the theme brings. This year’s theme was ‘The Environment’ and we were delighted with the range of poems recited about space, their favourite places and even things seen in their environments, to name just a few.
A huge thank you to all the staff and children for making the poetry cafe such a huge success! Miss Jo would have been proud. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend and especially to those who shared their own poems. We hope you enjoyed the cafe just as much as the children.
