As we approach the end of this particularly exciting term, it is time to reflect and celebrate all that the children have achieved. Special events, school trips, sports fixtures, competitions and awards are but few of the exceptional opportunities the children have taken part in and it has been wonderful to see how much they have flourished and grown during the term.
What has stood out to me most about this term, is the wonderful sense of joy and happiness in the classrooms as the children interact with each other and the teachers. Learning here at WPS is fun, creative and engaging and watching the children be fully engrossed in learning through exploration and discovery has been really thrilling to watch!
At Wandsworth Prep, we teach the children about growth mindset and the importance of saying, “I can’t do that yet” rather than saying, “I can’t do that”. The way the children have embraced this mindset and are applying it in lessons is quite exceptional and we are seeing a positive impact on learning and relationships.
This Spring Term, Year 3 took a Trip to Wagamamas, where they had a tour of the kitchens and the opportunity to learn about food safety. They prepared dishes which the restaurant serves to their customers daily.
We created Road Safety Bags which was an exciting and interesting way to learn more about the importance of being safe on the roads and how we can implement this in our daily lives. Our Choir also performed at Young Voices and did a great job of representing Wandsworth Prep in the wider community.
Our Year 6 class are now winding down after all their preparation for the 11+ exams. Throughout the term, Year 6 have had wellness breaks with our Positivi-Tea for Mental Health Week, enjoyed a Chinese Lunch and headed over to Art-K to paint our own landscape. They thoroughly enjoyed Cirque Du Soleil at The Royal Albert Hall and have collaborated with Year 5 for our Enterprise events.
The whole school relished the opportunity to celebrate World Book Day and particularly embraced dressing up as their favourite book characters and showing off their costumes on our catwalk for all parents to see. Our ‘Drop Everything and Read’ and Readathons were a huge hit and enjoyed by all!
Our pupils baked some positively delicious looking cakes for the Easter Cake Sale, and decorated eggs for the ISA Easter Egg Competition where we all voted for the best of each year group. We ended the term with our spectacular Easter Extravagance, which was as always, a highlight for the children.
